Personal Finance Challenge
Maryland's Personal Finance Challenge is sponsored by Consumer Credit Counseling Service of MD & DE, Inc and The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond-Baltimore Branch
The Maryland’s Personal Finance Challenge is an opportunity for high school students to demonstrate their personal finance knowledge in a fun, competitive environment! The competition is open to high schools of the counties that have a graduation requirement in financial literacy. One team per school can participate.
How is the challenge set up?
Teams of up to four students compete on topics from spending, credit, savings, investing, income and money management.
What are the rounds of competition?
Round 1– Spending and Credit
Round 2– Saving and Investing
Round 3– Income and Money Management
Round 4– Quiz Bowl (top two teams face-off in a fast-answer buzzer round)

Students
- The Challenge helps students gain a better understanding and appreciation of personal finance.
- Students learn to compete in a fun, challenging way.
- $500 Series EE Savings Bond for each member of the 1st place team.
- $250 Series EE Savings Bond for each member of the 2nd place team.
- T-shirt and a certificate of participation.
Teachers/Coaches
- The Challenge boosts students’ team building skills and competitive drive.
- Teachers are able to network with fellow personal finance teachers during the event.
- Teacher of the winning 1st place team will received a $500 Series EE Savings Bond.
- Teacher of the winning 2nd place team will receive a $250 Series EE Savings Bond.
